02 / Industry & exporters

From carbon questions
to reliable evidence.

Connect industrial carbon policy, measurement design, data ownership, reduction options, and trade-readiness handoffs. Start at the workstream you need.

THE QUESTION

What should be measured, documented, reviewed, and handed over?

Industrial operators, non-EU producers and exporters, and public teams designing carbon or exporter-support programs.

CHOOSE THE QUESTION CLOSEST TO YOUR WORK

Different starting points.
A defined scope for each.

A facility monitoring program, a customer emissions request, and a public pilot need different outputs. Start with the question your team owns.

01 / INDUSTRIAL OPERATORS

Build a consistent MRV system.

Connect facility boundaries, monitoring needs, data owners, quality checks, and review responsibilities. MRV means measurement, reporting, and verification.

Useful starting records
Facility and source descriptions, monitoring records, reporting purpose, existing methods.
A practical output
A monitoring-plan outline, data dictionary, responsibility model, and pilot plan.
Explore industrial MRV design

02 / PRODUCERS & EXPORTERS

Prepare for the evidence request.

Define the product, installation, trade flow, and customer request before organizing records or planning an independent-verifier handoff.

Useful starting records
Product and trade description, production and energy records, customer information requests.
A practical output
A scope memo, evidence-gap checklist, data-owner map, and preparation roadmap.
Explore CBAM readiness

03 / GOVERNMENT & PUBLIC TEAMS

Turn an objective into a pilot.

Compare framework options, common metrics, agency and operator roles, and procurement-neutral specialist requirements.

Useful starting records
Policy objective, intended participants, existing frameworks, proposed pilot boundaries.
A practical output
Framework options, a responsibility map, common metrics, and a scoped pilot plan.

CONNECTED WORKSTREAMS

01

Policy

Set the question and criteria.

02

Measure

Design records and controls.

03

Review

Prepare evidence and handoffs.

04

Demonstrate

Support the information need.

MAKE THE WORK CONCRETE

An integrated view. Different points of entry.

An operator may need a monitoring plan. An exporter may need an evidence-gap review. A public team may need a framework and pilot design. These are related scopes; they are not automatically one mandatory program.

CBAM / EVIDENCE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare the evidence.
Keep the roles clear.

The Commission lists selected goods in cement, iron and steel, aluminium, fertilisers, electricity, and hydrogen. A sector name alone does not establish whether a trade flow is covered; check the current product and trade scope before planning the evidence work.

  1. 01

    Non-EU installation operator

Monitors and calculates embedded emissions using the applicable CBAM methodology and provides information for verification.

    Preparation focus
Installation and product boundaries, source records, units, periods, calculation assumptions, and record owners.
  2. 02

    EU CBAM declarant

Is responsible for the CBAM declaration and associated EU obligations.

    Preparation focus
Clarify the customer or declarant’s information request and intended use of the supplied records.
  3. 03

    Independent accredited verifier

Verifies actual emissions data within the relevant accreditation scope. Commission guidance distinguishes actual verified emissions from default values.

    Preparation focus
Agree the review requirements with an appropriately accredited verifier when actual emissions data will be used.

Coverage, product classification, origin, exceptions, methods, and the intended use of actual or default data need a trade-specific review. Readiness support does not transfer declarant obligations or confer verifier status.

HOW WE CAN HELP

Terrajectory’s part: organize the preparation.

Define the scope, connect evidence to data owners, identify gaps, and plan the customer or verifier handoff. Field measurement and independent accredited verification are separately scoped with qualified providers.

Review the CBAM readiness scope

Clear scope. Appropriate expertise.

Instrumentation, calibration, stack testing, regulated monitoring, capture/storage engineering, and accredited verification require appropriately qualified providers. Reduction and optional CCUS screening are separate, scope-dependent work; capture is not an inevitable step.
